READy, Set, Go Miami! – Early Literacy Toolkit

This county-wide initiative provides families with simple, research-based early literacy activities that can easily become part of daily routines—like talking, reading, singing, playing, and writing together. Even better, it's available in English, Spanish, and Creole, so all families can participate comfortably. Workshops and toolkits make it easy to turn everyday moments into learning opportunities.

 

 

Florida Center for Reading Research (FCRR) – For Families

FCRR offers a treasure trove of literacy resources tailored for families, including video activities, bilingual tools, and practical demonstrations of at-home reading strategies. Highlights include Maya’s Book Nook, showcasing diverse children's literature; #AtHomeWithFCRR videos that model reading activities in home environments; and guides for supporting English learners. All materials are research-based and free.

Florida Grade-Level Reading Campaign – Resources for Parents

This statewide initiative provides tools and resources designed specifically for families of young readers. Key offerings include:

  • Reading IQ, a free digital library for Florida residents with over 5,500 books and reading assessments to help find appropriate-level texts.

  • GoMo Early Care Concierge, which sends age-based learning tips, activities, and book suggestions via text message.

  • Other practical tools, such as tip sheets, family engagement guidance, and strategies for supporting bilingual and young learners.
